Mi madre segunda..words cannot express the deep sadness I feel because God has called you away from your loved ones here on earth too soon. But I feel joy that you are able to now experience a much-needed rest. You fought a long battle for your health and have lived a long life of service to your community and to your family; ensuring their comfort, well-being and happiness. My heart goes out to your family who will indeed feel a gaping hole as I do because you are no longer physically present in our lives. But your heart and spirit transcends physical form and will be with us in every moment. "Love them anyway" you used to say. I will try, mi madre segunda, I will try. But I know no one does unconditional love better than you. May love, faith and an unbreakable hope in perseverance be with your family as they mourn their loss.

Elaine Kleehammer - 08/19/2012

Leda was my aunt and my Godmother. She was good to everyone. She never missed a birthday or a special occassion in the life of someone she loved. She was always there with words that inspired and brought hope even in what seemed like hopeless situations. I will always remember and admire her love for people and her positive attitude in life. The loss to the world is absolutely huge with her all-to-soon departure, as she touched so many lives. I have many fond memories of her wisdom and her sense of humor. Her funny expressions and lively smile I will never forget. Heaven has gained an angel today for sure. I pray that she is at peace and having a wonderful reunion with all those special people she loved who have gone before. My deepest condolences go out to Uncle Tom, Marilyn, Sabrina, Jackie and Tommy as well as to Uncle Gussy and Zia Alfonsina. God Bless you all.

Love, Elaine

I do believe that Leda was one of the most genuinely sweet people that I have ever had the pleasure to know. She had a capacity to love like I've never before experienced. While her passing brings a heavy heart to so many, I truly do believe that her lifetime of blessings to us all will let her light shine on. Blessed Leda, you will be sorely missed yet you will be lovingly remembered. My condolences to Tom, Marilyn, Sabrina, Tommy and the rest of the family.

Marilyn, Sabrina, Jackie, Tom, and Mr. Proulx, my heart goes out to each of you because I truly understand your pain. Please know that I am thinking of you and sending a BIG HUG your way. Leda was such a warm, loving woman; so special to everyone she touched w/ her amazing energetic spirit. I wish I knew her longer. She fought an enormous battle and sadly was too tired and had to rest (just like my mom). Thankfully she is at peace. I love you all...Patty XOXO

Linda Taylor Ritchie - 08/21/2012

Tom - I remember being at RI College with you & Leda and what a sweet ladey she was.
So sorry for your loss. Please Take Care.

Robert & Nancy Devost - 08/21/2012

Our hearts go out to Tom and the entire family and we send our Deepest Sympathy and Prayers.

Nancy will convey far better than I ever can about losing a dear friend and a friend from Day One when Nancy began teaching in Providence and found a mentor and soon to be dear friend across the hall in the next classroom.
I knew Leda only to a small degree compared to Nancy but I knew Leda had a heart of gold and a warm and kind and loving and giving Mother, teacher and friend.

Nancy's father was just admitted to the hospital yesterday and we regret we can not travel down from Vermont for the funeral.

Please know our love and prayers go out to you and we truly know Leda blessed our lives and the lives of so many.

The Leonard Family - 08/21/2012

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on the snow. I am the sunlight that ripened grain; I am the gentle autumns’s rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. Our deepest condolences to the Proulx Family.-- I will miss so many things about your Mom... Her hugs, smiles, lemon buscoti's,her great advice, and her zest for life..and her love for her friends and family. She was a person who made everyone she came in contact feel better about themselves and life...and you can't be a better person than that! X0X0X0 Love,Cynthia

Erika Laquer - 08/21/2012

As a friend of Martin Proulx and Mary, I send my deepest condolences to the whole family. It is unbelievable that two brothers would lose their wives to cancer in less than a year.

Sindhu and Michael - 08/21/2012

What an amazing person you were Leda, it shows in what an amazing family you have brought up. My heart goes out to your family, especially to Tom, Marilyn, Sabrina, Tom, Jackie and loving granddaughters Riley and baby Clover - God alone can give solace and strength to accept this big loss. She was an Angel. I was a total stranger in Rhode Island - but now I feel a big void - Leda filled our lives with joy, her heart was pure as gold, her LOVE for God and for everyone simply shows what a perfect soul she was…. I will feel her LOVE every time I feel the Sun shine upon me. Miss you dearly my other Mom in RI.
