Russell E. Grace

Russell Edward Grace 66, of 152 Davis Avenue Cranston, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on August 25, 2013 after a short illness. Mr. Grace was an industrial supply salesman for many years before retiring in 2009 from Franco Industrial Supply in Cranston RI. Mr. Grace was born in Dixon, Illinois on November 3, 1946. He was the son of the late James H. and the late Doris C. (Covill) Grace. He grew up in Providence, Rhode Island with Roger Williams Park as his back yard. After serving in the United States Army, Mr. Grace lived in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, before returning to Rhode Island and settling in Cranston in 1978. He was the long-time beloved companion of Cynthia L. Cerullo of Cranston. He is survived by his brothers Donald Grace and his wife Anne of Cranston, Kenneth Grace and his wife Eva of Wiscasset, Maine and Richard Grace and his wife Sheila also of Cranston. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Diane Grace, Cheryl (Grace) Hirsch, Jennifer Grace, Thomas Grace, Michael Grace, John Grace and Rosamond Grace his grand-nieces Mira Hirsch, Gwendolyn Grace, Brittany Waite and grand-nephews Adam Hirsch and Jack Grace all of whom he loved very much. Mr. Grace attended Central High School in Providence prior to joining the United States Army. He served with the 32nd Armored Division in Munich, Germany and then volunteered for duty in Viet Nam with the 25th Infantry 3/4 armoured calvary. He was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an avid fisherman and boater and loved professional sports, particularly the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He also loved music, especially the blues, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45 from The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mark Church Cranston at 10:00. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm.
