Doris J. Dean

Dean, Doris J. (Mackie) 89, of Greenwich Farms Warwick, Rhode Island passed peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence on Friday September 27th 2013 with her family in close attendance. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to parents Norman and Florence (McCully) Mackie, she leaves her husband Gordon L. Dean, sisters Helen, Joan and Carol, son Bradley and his wife Kathlyn of Duncanville, Texas, daughter Karen of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren in Texas. She resided in Providence from 1952 to 1962 and then Cranston until 2013. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church (later Faith Presbyterian) and most recently Phillips Memorial Baptist Church of Cranston. Doris was a loving and devoted wife for 68 years. She had a servant heart and participated in activities including Meals on Wheels, coffee service at church, and visitation and beautician service to shut-ins. She enjoyed dancing, golfing and playing cards. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday November 17th in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project which is one of her favorite charities (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/)

We are so sorry about the loss of our good friend Doris. We played cards together on thursdays and enjoy her company so much. She loved her family often spoke of them fondly. Doris will be rememberd always as a beautiful person.
