Although there is no snow in the Cranston area at this time, Robert's family and friends living on the Cape are being inundated with snow as we speak. Travel to the funeral would be extremely dangerous and not advised. As a result, after consulting with the family, the funeral will be postponed one day. Marilyn (Hall) Swanson 90, of Tennyson Road in Cranston passed away in her sleep January 29, 2016, under hospice care at the Scandinavian Home in Cranston. She was the wife of the late C. William Swanson. Born in Providence on August 1, 1925, Marilyn was a graduate of Cranston High School and the Edgewood Secretarial School. Marilyn worked in office administration for more than thirty years, last employed by Church of the Ascension in Cranston. She is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; excellent at homemaking, hospitality, humor, and serving at Phillips Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member for 77 years. Marilyn is survived by children Jean Westcott (wife of Ted Westcott) of Cranston, Rev. Robert Swanson (husband of Heather Swanson) of Centerville, MA; sister Nancy H. Griswold of Cranston, RI, grandchildren Carrie Franzen (wife of Hans Franzen) of Storrs, CT, Julie Sanderson (wife of Mark Sanderson) of West Hartford, CT, Mary Ellen Halloran (wife of John Halloran) of South Kingstown, RI, Thomas Swanson (husband of Paige Swanson) of Marstons Mills, MA, Stephanie Soares (wife of Christopher Soares) of Mashpee, MA, Krista Lucich (wife of Mike Lucich) of Mashpee, MA; 17 great-grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews. Marilyn was also the sister of the late Marjorie H. Davis. A Memorial Service to which all are invited to attend will be held on Monday February 8, 2016 at 1:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Marilyn's memory to Phillips Memorial Baptist Church 565 Pontiac Avenue Cranston, RI 02910.
