Edward A. Montmarquet

Edward Montmarquet 70, of Birch Street in Cranston, passed away on Thursday April 21, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Ernest A. and Catherine (Denvers) Montmarquet. He leaves behind two daughters Robin L. Jones, Amanda J. Peloquin and one son Timothy E. Palmquist. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren whom he loved very much, Terri L. Cole, Victoria L. Jones, Dylan J. and Ava L. Peloquin, Brendan M., Mathew, and Logan Palmquist. Edward loved motorcycles and was a member of the Fifth Chapter motorcycle club. He loved to tell jokes and always had a new one to spring on you. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was easy going and always offered words of encouragement to his children and grandchildren. This is how his oldest granddaughter, Terri, remembers him....

"Grandpa-my initiator of cultural curiosity. I remember when he bought me a necklace from Egypt with my name in hieroglyphics and I became obsessed with Egyptian history (although briefly). I haven't thought about that memory for the longest time until now. How easy it is to forget that often that our passions derive from some small, seemingly insignificant spark. It's difficult not being home to honor his memory with family, but today, as I'm simultaneously soaking in nostalgia and yet excitedly exploring a new country, I'm reminded of his encouragement and love for travel. I know he'd hate a stream of tears, so I'll honor him by drinking loads of coffee, eating pastry, and thinking up the best jokes I can. "

My Friend,

I often wonder how quickly we get caught up in life's tangled web. Most of the time we keep our lives so busy, never taking the time by reaching out to the love one's we imagine so dear.

You were funny, gentle and a loving person. Your smile was as of the sun just peaking over the mountain.

I am so glad too have been your son-in-law.

"Into his hands, you have committed your spirit".

You will be missed!

Dear Robin & family,
I was so sorry to read of the loss of your father. I have heard stories about him over the years but I am sorry I never had the opportunity to meet him. It is never easy to lose a parent but I am so happy that you have some wonderful memories and words of wisdom to help comfort you during this difficult time.

Sending you all my love,
Aunt Jean

I am so sorry to hear about Ed's passing. He was one of the funniest guys with a healthy sprinkling of sarcasm. I heard his laugh when I read his granddaughters words. Godspeed my friend.

I have many memories of Ed and the times we shared before, during and after Fifth Chapter. He could see the humor in anything, especially himself. He would just light up when relating something about his kids and grandkids. Take all those good memories and wrap them around yourself like a comforting blanket! I hope he is finally enjoying peace. Love to all!
