Jean M. Verity
Jean Marie Verity of 45 Hamden Rd Cranston Rhode Island passed away at the age of 88 on the evening of June 27, 2016, in West Kingston at Shady Acres Nursing Home, with her daughter Dianne by her side.
She was the wife of the late John Thomas Conaty Jr. until she was widowed in 1960. In 1967, she married the late Milton Henry Verity, and at the time of her death she was married to him for 49 years. Jean was born on September 11, 1927, in Providence to her parents, the late Charles Vincent Streker and Rose (Bennett) Streker. Jean grew up in Providence, lived in Warwick and spent most of her life in Cranston. Throughout her years she was a bookkeeper at the Behavioral Research Institute, and the office assistant and assisted with the CCD program at St Mark’s church in Garden City where she was also a parishioner.
Jean leaves 3 generations behind to remember her … Four children, Dianne Frances (Conaty) Leach, the late Catherine Ann Conaty, John Thomas Conaty III, and David Michael Verity. Five grandchildren, Eric John Leach, the late Christopher Bruce Leach, Lisa Beth Leach, Lori Mae (Leach) Coker, and Mark Daniel Leach. Along with three great grandchildren, Madison Grace Coker, Blake Austin Coker, and Kaelyn Marie Coker. Jean also has a sister-in-law, (Sister) Jean Conaty, I.H.M., in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she also had a brother, the late Charles Vincent Streker Jr., Retired Lt. Colonel of the United States Army along with his eight sons and daughters.
A family viewing will be held at Butterfield Funeral Home for immediate family on Friday, July 1st, 2016 at 10 a.m. A public service will be held at St Mark’s church at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Cranston.
