Marjorie E. Oxley

Marjorie Edna (Carpenter) Oxley entered into eternal rest on August 3, 2016. She was the wife of the late Kenneth M. Oxley to whom she was married for 57 years. Born November 25, 1921 in Providence to Charles and Etta (Ford) Carpenter, she was sister of the late Raymond, Russell and Charles Carpenter, Eunice Kirk, Dorothy West and Virginia Thornton. She lived in Cranston for most of her life. She was the loving mother of four sons, Kenneth F. and his wife, Martha of Haddon Township, NJ, Martin J. and his wife, Jean of Chepachet, Randy L. of Cranston and John A. of Medway, ME and the beloved Gram of Martin J. and Melanie J. Oxley both of Cranston, Kevin L. Oxley of Haddon Township, NJ and the late Kenneth T. Oxley. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Marge was a waitress for over 20 years at Miss Duttons in downtown Providence and then spent her later years working as a home health aide. A longtime member of Meshanticut Park Baptist Church, she was well known for her cake baking and decorating skills. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed her time at the Johnston Senior Center. Marge loved to travel, do craft projects and enjoyed time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital are appreciated. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery Johnston. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00-7:00pm.

She was a tremendous addition to the care for my Grandmother, and Dad when they were ill, and a caring helper for my Mom after that, doing just about anything needed around the house.
