Lori A. Ribeiro

Ribeiro, Lori Ann (Peterson) 43, passed away on Tuesday May 13, 2014 after a long battle with breast cancer at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. She was born on August 16, 1970 Warwick, RI. She was the only child of Bruce L. Peterson and Arlene M. (Souza) Peterson of Cranston, RI. She was married to Victor Ribeiro of Cumberland on April 29, 2000 At St. Matthews Church in Cranston, RI. Lori attended the University of Rhode Island and received her Associates degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. Lori was an extremely dedicated worker and had a tireless work ethic. She began her career in the bakery business at the young age of 15 at Almacs in Garden City, Cranston. She moved onto Dave’s Supermarket, where she became a Bakery Manager. Later, she accepted a position with the Pillsbury’s Bakery Division; where she took a position as a Bakery Tech for the New England Area. An opportunity arose to go to work for Top Line Foods (a food Broker in New England). She began as a Bakery Tech and proved herself so much; she eventually earned a position in the Sales and Marketing Department. Here, Lori enjoyed working for her supervisors and friends John DeRoy and Marc Depresio. Top Line Foods was acquired by Acosta Foods, where they all continued to work closely together until her final days as a Sales and Marketing Manager for some of the biggest Supermarkets and Distributors in New England. She worked very hard, even in her current condition, to complete the tasks that duties called for. She even took her laptop to the hospital when she was admitted in April 2014; with the idea of her continuing to work even while in poor condition. She was a great coworker, manager, and friend to many in the Industry that she grew to know and love over the years. Lori loved travelling. She enjoyed several vacations with family, friends, but most especially with Victor and Logan. Some of her most memorable trips as a child included Disney World and Hawaii. Later in life, she loved to visit Siesta Key, Florida with her husband, son, mother and father, and her large family of cousins, the Pappagallo’s. Most of all, she enjoyed cruising the Caribbean and staying in a balcony cabin so she could enjoy the sunrise and sunsets. Most of the time, Lori enjoyed being home watching TV shows and movies. Lori believed that Sundays were meant for Patriot’s football. Once the football season ended, it was a lifetime for women movie marathon. Hitting the beaches in the summer with a good book in hand was not uncommon. She also enjoyed a camping trip and canoeing from time to time. She enjoyed canoeing so much; she wanted herself to be known as an “avid canoer.” Perhaps the most memorable times for Lori though were spending time with her friends. She loved to sit by the fire pit and sing “Wonderwall”. “Thursday night wine night” with Teresa (Tree) Moriarty Covington, Deana (Fancy Pants) Turgeon and Karen (Ka) Kuhn Perry proved to be a highlight of her week. Lori leaves behind her mother, Arlene Peterson, and the loves of her life Victor, their three-year-old son Logan James Ribeiro, and her dedicated dog Molly. Lori will forever be remembered as a dedicated and loving Mom to Logan, her beautiful son that she had waited so long to have. She will forever be his guardian angel. A special thank you to Arlene Peterson, Rosa and Tony Ribeiro, Naomi and Fred Sawyer, Bubba and Karen Perry, Ron Kuhn and Deana Turgeon, Gary and Rita Kuhn, Teresa Moriarty Covington, Tammy DiBiasio, Jeff and Krissy Kelaghan, Tim Trainor, Chuck Lincoln, Tammy Gaipo, Christine and Dante Carr, Danielle Matteson Turnbull, Lynn Eaton and Angela LaFauci and countless others for your endless support, especially in her last few days of life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30am in St. Peter’s Church 350 Fair Street Warwick. Burial will follow in the Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery also in Warwick. Visitation will be held TODAY Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice Care of Rhode Island 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated....Forever LORI STRONG.

“Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same.” Lori is one of those people.
While having known Lori for only a brief time while working at Acosta, I quickly became aware of what a smart, fun-loving, wonderful young woman and mother she was and why so many people loved her. How could you not! Lori was an irresistible personality that brought life to any gathering whether it was a sales meeting or a food show … everyone looked forward to Lori being there.
I am blessed to have known Lori. My wishes and prayers for her family are to find peace and comfort in knowing that Lori will always be with you. Always in all ways.
“What we leave behind is not the tears ~ but the smiles, the stories, the love. May all the love you shared be a lasting gift for you.”
God Bless you, Lori, and thank you.
