Mary Gustafson

Mary (McCarthy) Gustafson of Beech Avenue Cranston, Rhode Island died peacefully at her home on Tuesday after a short illness surrounded by her loving family. She was a dedicated and nurturing stay-at-home mom for several years and after her children had grown, was employed for 10 years at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Doyle) McCarthy. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Stanley Gustafson, son David Gustafson of North Providence, daughters Mary Ouellette of Cranston, and Debra McKeon and her husband Edward of Cranston. She was grandmother of Matthew Ouellette of Cumberland, Jessica Ouellette of Lincoln and Cranston, Edward and Kara McKeon of Cranston, sister of John McCarthy of Ventura, California and the late Charles McCarthy. She was an avid New England Patriot's fan, even though she refused to watch the games in real time because she was convinced she would jinx them. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 6:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Visitation will be held on two hours prior to the service beginning at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society C/O their Southern New England Region 931 Jefferson Blvd Suite 3004 Warwick, Rhode Island 02886 would be appreciated.
