Ruben R. Burgos
Ruben Rafael Burgos “Rafelito": After a courageous 20 year battle with Diabetes, Ruben passed away peacefully on the 15th of September 2015 in Providence, Rhode Island with his family by his side.
Born October 24, 1950 in Santiago, Dominican Republic, he was a resident of Providence for over 23 years and was self employed. Rafelito was educated in Santo Domingo, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. He was an avid baseball follower, and a true San Francisco Giants fan. He loved the sport and founded a local adult softball club, called La Liga Scorpio, in Providence in the early 90’s.
Rafaelito is survived by his wife of over 41 years Nercida Burgos Batista of Providence, his four children, Yocasta, Ruben Jr., Vianella and Joel Burgos; his siblings William Herrera of Bronx, NY, Malvina, Belkis, Nano, and Mildred Burgos. He leaves behind his seven beloved grandchildren, Tabitha, Mailanni, Julia, Maleiya, Jonathan, Jackson, and Jaylin. Rafaelito was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Del Rosario Rodriguez and his father, Ruben Dario Burgos both of Santo Domingo, DR. Calling hours will be held from 9:30am to 11:00am on Saturday September 19, 2015 in The Butterfield Funeral Home 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston, RI 02910. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon in St. Bartholomew Church 297 Laurel Hill Avenue Providence.

It was with a great sense of loss when we heard of Mr. Ruben R. Burgos death.
