Steven G. Evans

Steven Gordon Evans 45, of Sheldon Street Cranston passed away suddenly on Sunday July 31, 2011. He was a very skilled self employed carpenter. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alfred G. Evans Jr. and Margaret B. (Steven) Evans of Cranston and had lived in Cranston most of his life. He was the brother of David R. Evans of Providence, Laurie E. Tilley and husband Raymond of Central Falls, Bethany M. Athaide and husband Raymond of Warwick, and the late Donald G. Evans. He was the cherished father of Amanda M. Evans with whom he shared a very special father/daughter relationship and was the loving grandfather to Joshua. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America. After graduating from Cranston East in 1983, he followed in his father's footsteps as a very skilled self employed carpenter working in, as well as outside of Rhode Island. He loved to create his personal projects such as his one of a kind "bunny" hutches. One of his favorite pastimes was to collect and sell various antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia he had found at some of the local flea markets. He enjoyed sporting events and was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Vikings. He was a "Mopar Man" and loved working on older cars especially his 1967 Roadrunner. Steven will be remenbered as a quiet and personal young man who loved his family very much. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00-7:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. A funeral service will begin at 7:00pm following the visitation. Burial will be private.

Theresa McCaughey - 08/03/2011

Dear Marge and family:
I am so sorry on the passing of Steven. Altho it is many years since I have seen him, I will always remember the times that my whole family always saw all of you where we lived right across the street from each other. Steven was always such a quiet & polite little boy, and continued to be so as he matured. Right now I know that everything is so difficult to embrace at this time, but with all your fond memories of him & his daughter, this will help you in the coming days. Please know that if ever you would like to contact me, that I would like to talk to you, especially Marge & Beth, of whom I have kept in touch with for so many years. My thoughts and prayers will be for Steven in church this week.
