Joanne I. Mennillo
Joanne Ivy (Macomber) Mennillo – November 9, 1927 – November 9, 2016. On the evening of her 89th birthday, after a day surrounded by family, Joanne Ivy (Macomber) Mennillo, as fine a woman as ever lived, passed peacefully in her sleep. This was not unexpected and is no tragedy – she lived a very full life. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest P. Mennillo, MD, and will be dearly missed by her five children – Ernest Paul, Roger, Dana, Melissa (Day), and Jonathan Todd, as well as her twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island Joanne was the youngest of the three children of William and Alice (Greene) Macomber. She was the sister of the late Winona (Hamilton) and Bill Macomber. She graduated from Aldrich High School, went on to earn her RN at Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, and worked at Rhode Island Hospital in the O.R. Joanne had a great love for dogs and unruly children. She also loved music and was a fine vocalist. She was an artist who tried her hand at painting and poetry, and she left us with a great many fine works of handicrafts - especially her exquisite needlework and ceramics. Joanne’s passing will leave the world diminished and make heaven a heck of a lot more fun! Calling hours will be held in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston Monday from 4:00-8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held in Phillips Memorial Baptist Church 565 Pontiac Avenue Cranston on Tuesday at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Quidnessett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted by the RIASPCA 186 Amaral Street Riverside, RI 02915.

To you all with whom my children had so much fun. I am so sorry I cannot attend the services for your Mom. We had so many laughs during our 6 years as neighbors and then with the boys sailing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

With deepest sympathy to all the family.
