Rose Gulotta 95, peacefully entered into eternal life on January 27th at Briarcliffe Nursing Home in Johnston, R.I. after a brief illness. Born in New York in 1922, she moved to Rhode Island at the age of 18 where she lived with her brother Louis. In 1946 she became part of the Maraia family when she moved into the family home on Eddy Street in Cranston and resided for 40 plus years. Rose worked for Bulova Watch Company in Warwick and at T.D. Brown Photographers in Cranston before retiring. She spent her last 18 years at Briarcliffe Nursing Home enjoying the activities and events on a daily basis. During her last seven years she enjoyed many days with her roommate Betty. She will be remembered for her smile and her determination to be the first person on the dance floor. Rose was the daughter of the late Paolo and Rosina (Legotina) Gulotta. She is survived by her nieces Louise Pezzullo, Theresa Cinami and nephew Louis Gulotta. She was the sister of the late Louis Gulotta of Cranston, and Paul and Joseph Gulotta of New York. Rose is also survived by her sisters Giovanne “Jenny” LaPlante and Rose Ciunci both of Cranston, Grace LeBlanc of North Kingstown, brother’s Joseph A. Maraia of Jamestown, and Michael P. Maraia of Virginia Beach, VA as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Matthew A. and Autino “Tony” Maraia, Ednella “Nell” Corbishley, and Carolyn Sorensen.
Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services which will begin at 9:00am on Tuesday in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mark Church 9 Garden Court Cranston. Burial will take place in Saint Ann Cemetery Cranston.
