Richard P. Bauer

Richard P. "Dick" Bauer, 89, of Cranston passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday September 7, 2018. He was a retired Fiscal Officer of the VA Hospital.

Dick’s family meant the world to him. He was the loving husband of Jean (Kline) Bauer for 64 years. He was born August 19, 1929 in Reading, PA to the late James and Bertha (Maurer) Bauer. He was the brother of the late James Bauer, Winifred Hertzog, and Elizabeth Leister. He is survived by his eight children: Patricia Amore, Carol (Kevin) Geary, Barbara (Brett) Milstead, Ellen (Michael) Moan, Thomas (Sarah) Bauer, John (Suzanne Yohannan) Bauer, James (Judy Chrusciel) Bauer, and Mary (John Jr) Paquet. Fifteen grandchildren: Emily, Neil, Michelle, Colleen, Patrick, Kevin, Stuart, Alyssa, Carl, Sarah, Julia, Lucas, Andrew, Jack, and John III. Five great grandchildren: Ethan, Naomi, Eliana, Lilly and Quinn, with a sixth great grandchild expected in February and niece Phyllis Wilson.

Dick served four years in the US Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Grade School, Central Catholic High School and Albright College, all in Reading, PA. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Cranston. Dick and Jean traveled to all 50 states, 97 countries and all 7 continents.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30am from The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church Cranston at 11:00am. Burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers. Donations in Dick's name to Unbound of Kansas City, KS or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
