Jean K. Oxley
After a courageous battle with cancer, Jean Kathleen (Garabedian) Oxley passed away on October 28, 2018 surrounded by her family at the age of 67.
Born in Providence, the daughter of the late John & Jean Garabedian, Jean grew up in Cranston, met and married her husband and raised her two children there before moving to Chepachet in 1994. Jean was a retired US Postal Clerk and had worked in the Pascoag Post Office until last year.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years Marty, her son Marty and his wife Deb and their children: Steven, Brianna & Christianna, her daughter Melanie and her partner, Tommy Aversa. She was the beloved sister of Jeff & Pam Garabedian, the late John & Linda Garabedian and Joyce & Richard Bourque. She was Aunty to Kyra & Alyssa Garabedian, Ben, RJ, and Aidyn Bourque, Jennifer and Kate Garabedian and Kevin and the late Kenny Oxley. She loved and was loved by many other family members and friends and will be sorely missed.
Jean’s focus in life had always been on her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister and Aunty. She had a wicked sense of humor, which she retained right to the end, sharing some very funny moments with her loved ones. Most of all she will always be remembered for her cookies. Every family event, every softball game, every cookout, every party and holiday there would be a tray (or bucket) of her cookies.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston.

I’m so sorry for your loss of your mom. It is the worst loss to deal with. Noone can ever replace her and the heartache is so great. We will never get over the loss, but memories and family will help you get through it. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of my mom💔 Talking about the funny times helps a lot. My mom was also a joker and always said it like it was.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
