Bruce S. Shaw
Bruce Stewart Shaw, Deputy Chief CFD 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 31, 2019.
Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late William and Alice May Hazel (Johnson) Shaw.
Bruce was a member of the Cranston Fire Department for thirty years, eight of which he served as the Fire Marshall for the City. He also served on the board for the International Association of Firefighters and was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Air Force as an Airman First Class.
As a devoted husband and father, Bruce was a source of inspiration and strength to all his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sallymae (Canavey) Shaw, sons Robert and wife Martha, Thomas and wife Dina, grandchildren Abigail, Hannah, Kelsey, Ryan Thomas Shaw, and Liam Martin, sister Carol Shaw, brother William Shaw, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Burial with Military Honors will take place on Saturday July 20th at 9:30am in The Rhode Island Veteran Cemetery Exeter. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Flowers are respectfully omitted.
