Wolfgang Vockerodt, 67, of 116 Burnside Street Cranston, RI passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Donna Vockerodt. Together they lived and raised a family in Cranston, RI. Wolfgang was born in East Berlin Germany.
He grew up to become a wonderful man who later joined the German Army and then furthered his passion for food and cooking by serving apprenticeships to become the wonderful and talented chef that he was. He came to the United States in 1978. He quickly became a well known chef and worked in several places such as Rockafellar Center and Robert Day Dean Catering Company in New York City. He also became appointed one of the head chefs to prepare the inaugural dinners for President Reagan's both elections. In later years Wolfgang worked for various restaurants, markets and catering companies. The last company being Tom's Market and Catering in Coventry, RI. His passion for food was always deeply expressed throughout his work, presentations and
life experiences. He always showed how much love, pride and respect he had for his profession and always taught others as well. Wolfgang survived by his wife Donna, 4 children; Jens, Melanie, Patricia and Katherine as well as his 5 grandchildren; Tessa, Tyler, Alexa, Mallory and Tiffany. He was wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Among so many things, he was a talented
chef, strong, level headed, had a huge heart and always knew how to make you smile. He will be missed deeply.
