Mary Simonian Obituary

Mary Simonian, 93, a sixty-three-year resident of Cranston passed away peacefully at home on Thursday November 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Simonian.

Born in Providence, Mary was the devoted daughter of Armenian Genocide survivors, Hagop and Elmast DerMooshegian, and the cherished sister of the late Sarkis DerMooshegian and Mary DerMooshegian who passed away as an infant. She graduated from Central High School and was a long-time member of the Daughters of Vartan and the Church Choir.  Mary dedicated over 21 years of service to the State of Rhode Island as a Child Support Agent. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time at the Cranston Senior Center Thursday bingo.  Above all, she found her greatest joy in being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love and pride for her family were the center of her life. Every family member had a key to her house and could walk in any time of day to spend time with her, and she always would find time to cook whenever one of her family stopped in to see her, which was every day, as all of her children and grandchildren lived close by.

Mary is survived by her loving children, John S. Simonian, Robert S. Simonian, Jennifer M. Kevorkian and her husband Allan. She was the adored grandmother of Allan K. and Bedros M. H. Kevorkian. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mary’s dear friends, Michele, Clinton, and Dave, whose kindness, companionship, and care brought joy and sunshine to her days. Mary will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday November 15, 2025 at 10:00am in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Church 70 Jefferson Street Providence.  Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery Providence.  Visitation is respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers donations in Mary's memory can be made to the Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Church Choir, or to the Cranston Senior Center.
