Patricia Kane Obituary

Patricia R. (McHugh) Kane 87, passed away peacefully on Monday December 29, 2025 at South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Margaret (Flynn) and James W. McHugh Sr. and the devoted wife of the late Vincent F. Kane with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.

Pat, as she was lovingly known, attended Tyler Catholic Elementary School and later graduated from Hope High School. She began her career at Providence Washington Insurance Company before marrying Vincent Kane and dedicating herself to raising their family as a devoted homemaker. In later years, she became an active member of St. Augustine’s Parish and school community, eventually working for the Providence School Department, where she spent 15 years at Classical High School before retiring.

Pat’s greatest joys were the summers spent at her beloved beach house in Point Judith, where she welcomed siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends, and anyone who wished to enjoy the ocean air, pool, and time together. She also cherished her time in Longboat Key, Florida, where she spent meaningful time with her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

But above all else, what Pat loved most was spending time with her grandchildren. Nothing brought her greater joy than the many sleepovers, shared activities, laughter, and special moments she created with them - memories that will be treasured forever.

Patricia is survived by her son Brian S. Kane and his wife Janice and her daughter Mary Ellen Benedict and her husband Noah. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brian Kane Jr., and husband Jordan  Schaefer, Joshua Kane, Brittney Bartis, Grace Benedict, Elizabeth Benedict, and Norah Benedict, and cherished great-grandmother of Brooklynn Vaccaro, Alexion Bartis, and Freya Lee Schaefer.

In addition, she was one of seven siblings and is survived by her sisters and brothers Edward McHugh, Marilyn Brennan, Gail Burns and husband Edward, Maureen Behm and husband Walter, Michael McHugh and wife Marilyn Salvatore. She was predeceased by her brother James W. McHugh Jr. and wife Carolyn (Bottella) McHugh and was sister-in-law of the late Joseph Brennan and Margaret “Peggy” McHugh.
